The whole moving process involves a lot of planning, and with planning, there’s also a lot of stuff to remember and schedule. While packing, it’s important to mark boxes clearly with all the necessary information, but this only helps with the unpacking process to a certain extent. To further simplify organizing your new home, try taking photographs of certain things.
Some ideas:
- Technology – While cords should always be clearly marked, it’s also helpful to take pictures of especially complicated connections. Entertainment centers and home offices are notoriously difficult to hook up. However, looking at photos of the proper set-up is sure to help you get everything up and running quickly and successfully.
- Furniture – If you have to disassemble furniture to facilitate moving, take a picture before you do so. Unless you kept the initial instruction sheet, a picture will probably be needed to help jog your memory.
- Room Arrangements – While certain room arrangements won’t be possible in your new space due to different dimensions and shapes, it does help to look at what worked in your last home. Plus, it’s beneficial to look at photos of how you decorated built-in cabinets, bookshelves and desks.
- Bedding – Some people are especially fond of decorative pillows. If you are one of those people, it always helps to see pictures of your favorite bedding arrangements. This is useful beyond the moving process, too. Keep the photos in their respective bedside tables to aid in making the beds in the future.
