However the moving company American Van Lines took perfect care of all my things while they were moving them. First of all an agent who booked my order provided me with a comprehensive flat-rate binding estimate. During the whole relocation process the quote remained the same not a penny was hidden. Secondly a team of packers was extremely professional and skilled. They packed my delicate electronics equipment including two monitors a pc tower and an adjustable standing desk with exceptional precision and secured them in special boxes. We were able to partner with them with a pickup truck which made it easier, but they were going to do the move even without it. Edward went above and beyond to make sure our move stayed on schedule during an extremely tight timeline. We had to have our entire household packed and loaded onto the semi truck in one day because the buyers were moving into our home the very next day. Missing that deadline simply was not an option. Edward kept everything organized, kept the team moving, and made sure all of our household items were carefully packed and loaded by the end of the day. Moving across the country is stressful enough without the company you're paying nearly **$11,000** to making the process significantly harder. Before we paid our deposit, our move coordinator was extremely responsive. Once the deposit was paid, that communication completely disappeared. I called and emailed my move coordinator numerous times and never received a single response. I was also instructed to contact another representative to update our inventory before the move. Again, multiple emails and voicemails went unanswered. Because no one would return our calls or process our inventory changes, everything had to be handled on moving day. The moving crew then had to sit outside our home for nearly **three hours** waiting for approval from American Van Lines before they could begin loading. I eventually had to call customer service myself and complain before anyone addressed the issue. That delay was unfair to both our family and the movers. Communication throughout the entire process was chaotic. Calls to customer service were frequently disconnected, some phone numbers we were given didn't even work, and we repeatedly received conflicting information about our move dates. At one point I was told our pickup would be a full week earlier than expected. Later I was told movers would arrive on Monday, so I rearranged my work schedule and missed an important meeting to be home. No one showed up. Then I was told it would be another day. Ultimately, the company that picked up our belongings arrived on a completely different day that had never been communicated to us. We spent weeks trying to figure out what was actually happening because no one at American Van Lines seemed able to provide accurate information. Another major disappointment was learning that our move was actually handled by **FABRI Distribution**, despite being told during the sales process that American Van Lines was **not** a broker and that American Van Lines would be handling our move. That left us feeling misled. After the move, we submitted concerns and were told an investigation would be conducted. We cooperated fully and waited for the results. We have never received the outcome of that investigation, a follow-up phone call, or even the courtesy of an email.** It honestly feels like the company simply stopped communicating and hoped enough time would pass that we'd give up and not leave a review. The only reason this isn't a one-sentence review is because I want to give credit where it's due. The loading and delivery crews were outstanding. They treated our belongings with care, worked incredibly hard, and were the one bright spot in an otherwise frustrating experience. Unfortunately, great movers can't make up for poor communication, broken promises, scheduling issues, and a complete lack of accountability from the company managing the move. I cannot recommend American Van Lines based on our experience. The rep was very proactive and listened to my needs. He worked very diligently, trying to move the schedule around when there wasn't enough space on the truck and they were going to have to get a second truck. I was trying to get everything coordinated in a very fast method because we had to get out of the house for the closing, and I ended up going with another company that I wasn't as impressed with. I had to make a move. But it wasn't against American Van Lines. He even called me back to let me know he was able to get a truck, and he deserves good kudos because he really tried. I was very impressed because the wrapping was unbelievable. After going through everything, I have not found a single item broken. The price was very fair for the distance of the move and the work they did. They came in, took over, and did everything we asked them to do. It was a four-and-a-half-hour drive easily. They had to move our furniture from the house and then put it into storage. But they were on time. They were there when they told us they'd be there and always stayed in touch with me. They let me know exactly where they were, what they were doing and called in advance. So, I'm tickled about that. I was trying to find a reputable moving company, and I went through a few that weren't so great. My dad let me know that he used American Van Lines when we moved, 10 years ago now, and he really liked them. They have a lot better reviews online, too. I called them up and the rep was great. I would miss her calls a lot, but she would follow up with emails, which I really appreciated. She would always answer my questions on the same day. Relocation within the Army requires an application for Do it Yourself Move (DD Form 2278) signed by you and an official from the Personal Property Office. Send your claims documents to the Army Community Service (ACS) Relocation Readiness Program within 45 days of your move to get reimbursed. The Navy will reimburse you for your move if you show them two weight tickets, one from before your goods were added to the truck and one from after. The difference between the two weight tickets represents the actual weight of the goods moved. To become approved for a PPM move, you must submit to your local transportation office:
